What Gets Activated in the Target House
The 7th House governs marriage, partnership, and business relationships. Under this aspect, Mars's significations of courage get projected directly onto these matters — meaning the native's experience of marriage, partnership, and business relationships is noticeably shaped by Mars's themes, even though Mars itself is physically sitting in the 12th House.
Reading Both Houses Together
This combination effectively links two houses: the 12th House (loss, isolation, foreign lands, and spiritual liberation) and the 7th House (marriage, partnership, and business relationships). A well-placed, dignified Mars tends to make this a productive bridge between the two life areas; an afflicted Mars tends to import the 12th House's challenges into the 7th House's affairs.
Practical Reading
Treat this aspect as a standing background influence rather than a single event — for as long as Mars occupies the 12th House in the chart (its natal placement, which is permanent), the 7th House carries this overlay, activated more visibly during Mars's own dasha periods.
